Sachal Sarmast, also known as Abdul Wahab (1739-1829), was a Sufi poet and mystic who lived in the Sindh region of what is now Pakistan. He is considered one of the greatest Sufi poets of the Sindhi language and is known for his poetry, which is characterized by its spiritual themes and profound insights.

Sachal Sarmast was born in a small village in Sindh and grew up in a Sufi family. He received his early education from his father and later studied with other scholars in the region. He is believed to have achieved a high level of spiritual enlightenment and is revered by many for his wisdom and insight.

Sachal Sarmast's poetry is known for its profound spiritual themes and is considered a treasure of the Sindhi language. Many of his poems have been translated into other languages and his work continues to be widely read and admired in Pakistan and around the world.

In addition to his poetry, Sachal Sarmast is also known for his contributions to the Sufi tradition and his role in spreading the teachings of Sufism in the Sindh region. He founded a Sufi order called the Sarmastya, which continues to be active today.
